Pains Fireworks have been filling the skies of Bournemouth with pyrotechnics since the Littledown Fireworks started 20 years ago. The man behind the display is Pete Theakston. Although Peter is in demand all around the world as one of the leading pyrotechnicians, he always makes sure he is at the Littledown displays. Last year he flew in especially from Dubai to oversee the show!
What you can expect to see
The opening salvo and first sequence will represent the colours of Bournemouth.
The sky will be filled with Blue and White effects
During this section a large range of crossette effects will be fired using Roman Candles, Roman Candle Barrages and Aerial shells
Always, stunning effects, Palm shells will rise up from the sports field with spiraling tails. Coupled with large calibre crackling Palm cakes, a variety of roman candles and royal
batteries, these will stand out beautifully against other
STRAFING SHELL SEQUENCE:
We aim to fire extremely large ‘strafing’ patterns of glitter tails and bombettes from left to right across the sky then back again – creating amazing patterns in the sky. This will be mirrored by ‘strafing’ comets which will be firing left to right and then back again.
MULTICOLOUR AND AERIAL SHELL EFFECTS SEQUENCE:
We shall combine many different shells which have unusual secondary effects after their initial burst such as bow-ties, go-getters, silver bees and many
more. Some will be fired in perfect symmetry, but will then be followed by volleys of erratic, fast moving comets such as the images below
BLUE AND POPPING BROCADE SEQUENCE:
With a distinct ‘blue-feel’ to this section of the show, volleys of striking midnight blue shells, fired over the top of silver tail to blue crossette cakes will combine beautifully with brocade shells to create fantastic patterns in the sky
To continue on from the noise of the previous section, the next sequence will be full of various crackling effects. Fantastic 50mm Roman Candles, fast-paced dragon’s egg candle barrages and the very latest types of crackling shells will all combine to create an almighty wall of sound and light.
WHISTLE & HUMMER SEQUENCE:
To add even more drama to the show, we shall fire a large number of whistle effects will sound out across the Meadow, jetting high above the shells
being fired at the same time.
Large Batteries, cakes, roman candles and shells will be fired together to create an exciting sequence full of hummers, serpents and whistles
GREEN & GOLD SEQUENCE
With some of the most striking green and gold effects
available, the aim is to create a ‘twilight’ feel’ to this
sequence, as the show nears the end.
There will be significant increase in the tempo and quantity of effects being fired during this section in preparation for the finale
FINALE: BRIGHT MULTI-COLOUR & REPORT SEQUENCE
The final of the display will be the most intense of the entire show, with a huge volume of multi-coloured aerial shells being fired to dramatic effect, along with thousands of individual comets and bombettes from cakes, roman candles and royal batteries. The audience will be bombarded by noise, colour and pace in an almighty climax to the evening! and leave the audience applauding loudly!
